There are several good suggestions here, and direct action is the key. Musk is a poor choice for the role, since he does not represent much of the coalition which supported Trump, but of course with unlimited arrogance and money, it will take strong action to challenge him.

But there is room for huge reduction in the federal budget and federal agencies which do not serve public interests.....and the budget of departments, especially those involved in propaganda work, like USAID are disproportionate to their payroll, since they are largely pass through agencies distributing funds.

Rather than raising fears about programs that Trump has committed to protect, we need to affirmatively push for cuts to the military, foreign aid (read bribing of foreign officials who support US business, often against US workers), and other programs, like DEI, which do not have support of the majority of the American people.

The leadership of the labor movement is paying the price now for its dependence on the Democratic Party and bureaucracy, instead of its members for its power and priorities.
